Vice President of a digital technology company, Mr. Zhao stood out in the up-to-the-moment fashion world of Xidan, exuding a sort of 1920s Shanghai, a luxuriant world of glamour and vice. His coat is made out some kind of dreadful polyester velveteen, but I must say that it looks pretty good here.

There is something about this guy (at least in this photo) that I can’t quite describe in words. But if I were to choose background music for his photo, it would have to be the theme song of 上海滩 (the old TV sitcom) - in fact, I have this song playing in my head right now as I leave this comment.

There is something really great about this shot… its not just the way he’s smoking the cigarette, or the way he’s standing… I like that the women behind him are so out of focus….
