Hogwarts Castle, Official Scribe

July 2nd, 2008

Allen said he chose Harry Potter as his stylistic muse for the day and I think he did a good job bringing his own petsonality to the look.  The specs were definitely also channelling David Hockney though some primary colors would need to be added to complete the look.  A freelance writer who tracks fashion and culture, his main assignments have recently been for internal publications for circulation within organizations under the Ministry of Culture.

I thought this site was about street style in Beijing, not street retards. Almost everything you post is a disturbing and surreal look at the very scariest residents of Beijing.

Looking at some of the recent pictures, I confess that you might have a point regarding “scary” if not the “retard” part. Long ago I concluded that anyone deigning to use primary school insults like “retard” and “stupid” into young adulthood must possess personal insights into the complicated nature of these terms. Sadly, your levels of breeding and education show through in your word choice. Please be more pretentious immediately.

Allow me to stress, however, that Stylites does not mean “style”. It comes from the name of Simeon Stylites, the famous pillar-sitter from the late forth and early fifth centuries. You can google him, but he sat on a pillar for nearly fifty years in the middle of the Syrian desert. He is probably the most famous ascetic in Christian history.

Please stop poisoning the dialogue with juvenilities. This approach prevents me from taking your words seriously.

Just to be clear, I’m not saying I don’t enjoy your site. You have my click. And I will admit you have a great eye in spotting these very special residents. Bring us more.

I do appreciate the correction and I will try to express myself more clearly. I will admit that I have been terse, but that is only human nature at work. Who doesn’t gasp at the scene o the crime?

@ Lifter: It’s just that one of my friends seemed a bit traumatized by one of your remarks. But thanks for commenting so much, critically or otherwise.

stylites: where on the interweb have you been advertising to draw in this new influx of Squares lately?

curiosity aside, i find this stylite to be one of the most stylish yet. you know an outfit is perfect when there are no alternatives to make the outfit more perfect.
