Just in: Lovely Italian Linens

Senli and Frye’s fine Italian suiting linens are lustrous and crisp - the best to be found in Beijing. Look through our sample books and you will appreciate the character and sophistication of this linen.

Linen suits and other garments are perfect for the increasingly scorching Beijing summers. Derived from the flax plant, linen is unique in its ability to pull moisture away from the body. Linen might be the coolest and lightest fabric that can be used for suiting. The wrinkles that come after a day of wear are to be expected and add to linen’s relaxed charm.

Italian linen is finer, lighter and softer than anything you will find domestically. Those accustomed to lower-end linens will immediately notice smoother texture and natural shine. Perhaps even more importantly, these linens will get better and better with age, eventually taking on a velvety patina.
Though linen is not for workhorse suits, it would be appropriate for wearing to most offices in Beijing. It is best at summer weddings, social occasions with clients, or drinking a sangria or caipirinha with your colleagues.
For a less formal look, unconstructed jackets with patch pockets can be paired with a crew neck shirt, polo, or soft collar linen or cotton shirt. For wearing to the office, try navy blue stripes with a ticket pocket. More fashion forward styles with narrower lapels & shoulders and one or two buttons work too. Half or quarter linings will increase the airy and relaxed feel. A range of color choices look good: sand, tobacco, brown with stripes, cream, dove gray, navy blue – we have nearly 100 different linen or linen/silk blend fabrics to choose from.

Reviews (from City Weekend, Beijing):
“I got a beautifully made charcoal black costume at Senli and Frye, and have had no complaints about it. My good friends, Riel and Colin, have also had numerous costumes and jackets made at this place and keep coming back for more! If you need clothes to ‘wow’ your colleagues or friends, Senli and Frye is the place to go to!”

“Senli and Frye have a singular penchant for providing tailored perfection and style at reasonable prices; in Beijing certainly, but perhaps all of China, they are unrivaled in this regard. I nor anyone I know who have had custom tailoring done here, have ever complained about fit or quality or price; on the contrary, meticulous needle work, high quality fabrics, and a perfectly customized fit conspire to make the wearer look outstanding, without lightening the wallet. If you are thinking of taking advantage of the cost savings attributed to having custom tailoring done in China, it would be unwise to settle for anything less than Senli and Frye.”

“A friend recently asked me about the difference between paying $6,000 and $800 for website design in China.
I told him it’s like the difference between Sen Li & Fry and Silk Market. How important is customized detail and a willingness to listen to you?
I bought a denim-esque green blazer at Sen Li & Fry, and will never hail a cab to the Silk Market for this kind of thing ever again.”
