Uma at Kama

Kama Love Festival, held this past weekend at the Olympic Park, was without a doubt the dustiest music festival so far this year. The above couple used the scarf that was the gift at the Uma Wang event to protect themselves from the blowing dust.

I met Interior Stylist Ruby at Migas’ new rooftop terrace opening party last week. She has an exiting new project which you will hopefully hear more about soon.

Sanlitun Village is a favourite location to dress according to new fashion trends or in a more distinctive style without attracting too many glances, but Beijing TV presenter Barbie takes the art of multicolour dressing to new heights.

At Uma Wang

Last Friday, Uma Wang was presented with the Audi Progressive Designer 2011 Award at the brand’s showroom located on East Chang’an Avenue. The event featured an exclusive preview of her 2012 winter collection which was started off by dancers in black dresses and slashed leather tops. The collection included beautiful asymmetrically cut heavy wool coats, dresses with a draped signature back, all-over print ensembles (a progressive trend?) as well as thickly woven sweaters paired with slim patterned pants. The fundraising auction that took place after the show sold a polka dot coat, leggings and dress for 30,000 RMB. The money will be donated to UNICEF in order to support Audi’s fundraising efforts for adolescent education in China.

Colors of Intro

Here is my last batch of photos from Intro.

For me, this is retro. It reminds me of the the sort of image one might have seen three years ago on the cover of a report by some hip consultancy on consumption patterns in trends of youth in China. I guess it is the short, dyed hair that does it, plus the slightly inscrutable confidence.

Shark Attack

The singer Queen Sea Big Shark, she was just shot by renowned photographer Mario Testino for a profile likely to appear in the September issue of US Vogue. As you may have heard, there was an unprecedentedly huge delegation from that magazine in town last week interviewing, photographing, and generally making a footprint here in China. China is going to be one of the main themes for Vogue’s thickest issue of 2011.
