There were some interesting individuals at the Shanghai Tang party, including this gentleman from Mongolia who spoke French, though neither English nor Chinese.

Here are more pictures of the Miao-inspired ‘Metamorphosis’ collection.

It’s nice to have a signature look. Top stylist and entrepreneur Tony Li (Li Dongtian) has clearly opted for capes. Tony, who spent nearly a decade living and studying in the US, has always had an international outlook and is looking forward to opening his first foreign shop soon in Sydney.

He was a VIP at Shanghai Tang’s presentation of its Miao culture-inspired ‘Metamorphosis’ collection (Lifestyle Asia has some pics). Jingdaily has more on the live-broadcasting of the show.

Ritchie just released “Triple-Major World,” the first collection in Triple-Major’s house line, which is inspired by video games, food, grammar and other typically disregarded motifs from everyday life. The collection was just presented at Paris Fashion Week for AW 2011 in Rendez-Vous Showroom.

Seen before in a different pair of floral tights, Even is adored by both the hipster boys of Beijing and fashion magazines looking for a model that represents hip youth in China today. I chatted with her for a few minutes about her travels and other things.

The Main Issue

Visiting from HK, Jimmy is one of the top designers of Izzue, a falgship brand for Hong Kong’s massive I.T. group. Izzue is expanding rapidly in China, and has outlets in Thailand, Malaysia, Macau, Taiwan, and Saudi Arabia.

Jimmy is know for his often gothic-influenced, edgy, very androgynous designs for both men and women. London, where he studied fashion, is also a key influence. We will have a longer interview with Jimmy here next time he comes to Beijing.

Since I last checked, Joy Island has become editor at Bazaar Art, a new, rather glossy and fashiony art magazine that is part of China’s largest magazine group, Trends. While being licensed by Trends, the Bazaar brand name is stronger in China than it is in its original market.

Of course there are several popular styles that rarely make it on to Stylites. Trendy sporty clothing like this is all over the place here in Beijing.

Ulster in BeijingUlster外套

Wearing what one might describe as a 19th Century Ulster coat in a modern fabric, Edmund is a freelance writer based in Shenzhen. He was at “I Love XXX”, the Cosplay event that Hotspot magazine organized yesterday night. I suppose Edmund was thinking of Sherlock Holmes. Here on Tom.com are photos of less interestingly dressed, but more celebrity guests at the event.

The Holy Editor

At the “I Love XXX” opening tonight, here is K’ Yu a Fashion Editor at Hotspot magazine, taking inspiration from Catholicism. The theme of the party and the artwork were something along the lines of Cosplay, a Japanese shortening of “Costume Play”. More on this in posts tmw.
