At the Gap opening, GQ editor Jacky Tam dares to match his pocket square and tie. Bold, bold, indeed.

Street fashion from the area around Wangfujing, including Dongdan, Dongsi, Oriental Plaza, and Longfusi Walking Street as well as the more distant Qianmen. Stylish young people frequent Oriental Plaza and a higher spending set can be found at the Qianmen’s Legation Quarter. Wangfujing is filled with a rowdy bunch of peasants.

At the Former Embassy
Cao Difei with the Creative Director of Loewe was on the porch of the pre-Communism US embassy, now home to French restaurant Maison Boulud, after a fashion show by Loewe, Spain’s answer to Hermès.
Cao Difei is quite interesting. Beyond being a fashion expert with an extensive collection of colognes, he is also an accomplished singer of traditional Beijing Opera. This movie on youku (in Chinese) talks more about his life and hobbies.

A Critic
Jel, from X+Q Sculpture Studio, had some interesting things to say about my blog, which I will translate when I have a chance. To summarize: While professing that she doesn’t really understand fashion, she says that the people appearing on stylites are all rather mainstream and bound to meet with the approval of the fashion crowd. Also she thats from the perspective of the Chinese, “fashion” really is something from the West, so my selections make a lot of sense.

For All Ages
This editor is from the magazine 1626, which focuses on readers in the age range of 16 to 26. I might be doing a column for them in the near future.
I have another friend who is the publisher of 0086 (0086 is the country code for China). He commented that his magazine is for everyone between 0 and 86.
Here’s another editor from that magazine.

This must be the most pleasing example of the retro China trend I mentioned in another post. This artist seems like a perfect Bye Bye Disco customer.

Outside Lacoste
I met no other than my dear friend Adam at the Lacoste Press Day for the FW10 Collection. The event took place in a brand new venue: Beijing Museum of Visual Art. Adam is here studying Chinese for the summer.
Below are some pictures of items that caught my eye.

A Model Agent
Ben is a model agent in Shanghai. He often came to Beijing looking for models. I asked him a few questions.
NF: Do you think opportunities for foreign models in China will increase or decrease?
