Do toxins attract interesting styles? This university student certainly looks like she could live in a converted factory.

Sanlitun has been Beijing’s main nightlife district for nearly as long as their has been nightlife in post-opening China. Over the years, the area has become more and more gentrified and sanitized. Sanlitun Village, Beijing’s first outdoor mall, with a huge number of shops ranging from Uniqlo to Reiss. The trendiest boutique hotel in the city, the Opposite House is also here. Sanlitun, the CBD, embassy quarter, and residences of most foreigners are in vast Chaoyang District.

More Men at agnès b.
Designer Xander Zhou (周翔宇) thought the agnès b. show as good. His avant-garde designs blur gender, geographic, and subcultural lines in startling ways, but it is rare that I see a piece from him that I can imagine on my own back.

A Beautiful Theory
She’s a fan of The Opposite House. A Taiwanese, Polish, Irish mix born in Taipei, Jessica has lived in Germany, South Korea, England, Hong Kong, LA, Boston, and Shanghai. She first came to Shanghai in 2003 as an intern at a luxury hotel. In 2009, she became the main PR for Theory. I asked her a few questions about style and living in China.

Zhang Chi å¼ é©°
I can’t believe that Zhang Chi has not appeared on Stylites before. A very Beijing sort of boy from accent to attitude, Zhang Chi went to the UK to study at 16 and later pursued a master’s degree in Milan, Italy, at Istituto Marangoni. Returning to China in 2010, his collections have shown at China Fashion Week. One of his main themes is a medieval knight brought up to the 21st century. I suspect we will have a more in-depth interview with him here in the near future.

Smokers at Versace
The Versace SS ’10 show was held in a former factory at 798, which was also the venue for much of Beijing Fashion Week. The reception brought out Beijing’s most stylish editors, stylists, PR executives, and creatives and most of them lit up. It seems the relationship between fashion, champagne and cigarettes is international and enduring.
