The Petshop Boys will not find the air particularly free here and will be very lucky if the skies are blue, but a crowd of very stylish will be welcoming them to this promised land where the pace is much faster than back West.
Prada has invited the British electro-pop duo to give a special performance after a fashion show that will re-present the SS ’11 collection of the brand and include some new items designed specifically for the event.
With this event at the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) Museum tomorrow night, Prada follows the lead of Phillip Lim, Fendi and others who have given special, high-profile, shows in China aiming to woo their most important, fastest growing, new market. Prada China sales rose at an almost violent rate of 51% in the first nine months of last year, so the mood for Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli and designer Miuccia Prada should also be celebratory.
51 percent surge in revenue from the region in the first nine months of 2010, is planning to restage its Spring 2011 fashion show in Beijing on Jan. 22. Both Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli and Miuccia Prada are expected to attend, and Prada plans on creating a series of new items specifically for the event.
Expect to see photos of some of the more interesting attendees here.

Porcelain Claw瓷器爪饰
Taxidermy is nothing new and animal parts have been used for centuries as ornament. Therefore, it should be no surprise when Chinese-born, Finland-based Shumeng Ye, unveils a porcelain chicken claw. Conceptual in its approach but still visceral, this porcelain chicken claw is elegantly
done in glazed off-white porcelain and can be a singular accessory for a fine dinner party.
These are available at Nouveau-Riche. – Jeffrey Ying

The frigidity of this town is keeping me off the streets, so I am not sure when I will be able to update Stylites with more street style. Please do check my frequently updated stuff-centric blog Stylitems for some of the interesting items I have seen lately.

Giacomo Morelli ShoesGiacomo Morelli皮鞋
The Giacomo Morelli patent shoes pictured in the photoshoot below were my favorite item that I saw at Luisaviaroma. The question in my mind is whether they really make sense paired with dinner suits as they are below and my feeling is that they probably are best with a slightly more casual ensemble.

The Florence Photo Shoot在佛罗伦è¨çš„æ‹æ‘„
Finally, here are some shots from the photoshoot that we did in Florence using the clothing on sale in LUISAVIAROMA.
Well, I am not a professional model – that is for sure. One thing I learned that day is that it is very hard to find entire outfits that both fit and go together reasonably well in a single store. Also I was pretty much doing this photoshoot right off the plane, sot there wasn’t much time to pick a wardrobe. Anyway, I did find this dinner suit from Lanvin (available here ) in a lightweight wool that was perfect around the thighs though the coat was strangely baggy. The shoes from patent shoes with a blue bow from Giacomo Morelli (find them here) were the most interesting part of the ensemble though. More pictures of those beneath.
These two are real models. We were able to go out onto the terrace on top of the shop for some shooting. This was overlooking the centerpiece of Florence, the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore or Duomo. From one of my least favorite brands, Dsquared, I found this rather appealing velvet coat with satin lapels (it is here) and oddly gratuitous feeling ticket pocket. It was amazing that the coat fit me almost perfectly. It would not really require alterations unlike the Lanvin suit above. In a midnight blue, the Burberry Prorsum suit (here) on the left features satin lapels that just about make it into a dinner suit, though there is always something a little improper about notch lapels and black tie. I suppose it is in that new family of suits that stylishly straddle the line between business attire and black tie and are, thus, most effective for going to fancy, but not altogether formal events.

Kent Keeps you Warm
Texas born and raised haberdasher Kent Wang just switched his base of operations to Shanghai. His new, rather chillier, home also means new additions to his growing line of men’s clothing. Most well-known for his ties and pocket squares, Wang also offers a full line of shirts and is now expanding into sweaters. Above is the new wool v-neck slim-fit sweater made in a thick and thirsty 100% wool that will insulate so well that the flimsy v-necks sold at most retailers, high- or low-end, will leave wearers cold to the bone.
