This photo and interview was in Modern Weekly a while back. Photographer Joy Island got interested in fashion while studying in London.

Fur Hat Season
It is upon us. It’s nice to see that more Beijingers are finding hats to be stylish these days. In the past, the spectacle of people in giant, grotesque, puffer coats going hatless was always amusing.

This visual merchandiser for Prada reminded everyone at the Gap party of Björk.

Gap Goes for Kids
It doesn’t take much to figure out that the “Little Emperors” are a huge market in China, but the fact that they are also a luxury market may not seem as obvious. This Jingdaily piece emphasizes that much conspicuous consumption can occur through children. In its new store at Wangfujing, Gap is certainly on to this trend.
More from Leon
The Japanese version of Leon sent a photographer over for this event. Wearing a glen-check suit, he was one of the most effortlessly stylish individuals at the event. Don’t think I have ever seen an event photographer who was so well-dressed.

At Men’s Leon
The party for men’s Leon (男人风尚)provided a nice barrage of sartorially-incliined Beijing men. More to follow.
On Lookbooks
The post just bellow, circle circle, was featured on lookbooks.com in their weekly Street Report, which “scours the web’s top street style blogs for the most killer looks”. The trend highlighted in their post is mixing of loud patterns.

Most will prefer dot dot, but this girl did have several shots of attitude.
At the Former Embassy
Cao Difei with the Creative Director of Loewe was on the porch of the pre-Communism US embassy, now home to French restaurant Maison Boulud, after a fashion show by Loewe, Spain’s answer to Hermès.
Cao Difei is quite interesting. Beyond being a fashion expert with an extensive collection of colognes, he is also an accomplished singer of traditional Beijing Opera. This movie on youku (in Chinese) talks more about his life and hobbies.

More Mont-Blanc
Some viewers were interested in seeing more of the Montblanc event, so I am posting additional photos.
Word on the street was that the total cost for the Montblanc event topped RMB 100 million or USD 15 million, which might be an exaggeration since the massive Fendi event at the Wall is supposed to have cost a mere USD 10 million. Germany’s Montblanc is big globally, but even bigger in China, which is already its number one market according to CEO Lutz Bethge.

The point of the night, beyond serious marketing and a big party, was introducing the China market to Metamorphosis. In the course of the night, the invention of this new watch was mentioned along side that of the automobile and the internet.
