I ran into pop artist Gao Yu at the Case da Abitare event the other day. He designed Absolut’s first-ever China Limited Edition bottle, Absolut 72 Bian, which takes inspiration from the the Monkey King who transforms 72 times in the course of the 16th Century novel Journey to the West.

我在《居Case da Abitare》碰到了高瑀,设计了绝对伏特加专为中国定制的中国限量版“72变” (Absolut 72 Bian)酒瓶。今年很多活动都用了他设计的这个酒瓶。

Scarfy

Hermès’ J’aime mon Carre made the brand seem less stodgy and silk scarves appear less the province of the aged. I have indeed met many younger girls who think Hermès scarves make them look middle-aged, so they were right to launch this initiative.

这个女孩是给爱马仕工作的。我见过不少年轻女孩觉得爱马仕丝巾应该只是中年女人系的。爱马仕这个活动是为了教年轻人怎么系,同时也可以让中国青年人知道爱马仕是个很特别的品牌。我觉得这个活动很成功还比别的活动更好玩,更轻松。我个人现在确实更愿意买爱马仕丝巾和领带。

After seeing Super VC at nearly every party, I finally got to see them perform at Hermès’ J’aime mon Carre event. I guess Hermès did a good job pitching their brand to younger buyers through this campaign. Bassist Zhen Yang (left) has been on Stylites many times.

我终于看到了果味VC的演出。这次是给爱马仕。甄洋(左边)已经在Stylites很都次。

L!ve in Beijing

In Beijing for just over a month, this modelling couple – he is from Croatia and she is Canadian – were at the tennis club, wearing new items from Lacoste. On him is a polo from LACOSTE L!VE, the new youth-oriented collection that will be available in a couple months here in Beijing. This new range is more fashionable than previous Lacoste offerings, while remaining faithful to the crisp sportiness of the brand.

Purple Labeler

If I were doing this blog in NYC, I might not take a picture of this fellow. However, it Beijing I have never seen anyone, Chinese foreign, dressed this way. He is wearing a Ralph Lauren Purple Label suit and tie. Very nice, though a pocket square might not hurt.

Lane Crawford: The Gents

Lane Crawford’s Winter Soiree brought out the most happening fellows in town for Moët and pop-up shops.

This top is made by a Beijing tailor out of fabric purchased in India.

Anina in Lu 12.28

At a Lane Crawford party, Anina is one of the better-known foreign models operating in China. She also runs a major fashion website.

Her jacket is by Beijing-based designer Liu Lu.

Anina可能是最有名的在中国工作的外模。她的彩色服装的品牌是LU 12.28。

More Mont-Blanc

Some viewers were interested in seeing more of the Montblanc event, so I am posting additional photos.

Word on the street was that the total cost for the Montblanc event topped RMB 100 million or USD 15 million, which might be an exaggeration since the massive Fendi event at the Wall is supposed to have cost a mere USD 10 million. Germany’s Montblanc is big globally, but even bigger in China, which is already its number one market according to CEO Lutz Bethge.

据说万宝龙在这个活动花了一个亿,但我不知道是不是这么多。万宝龙在中国比在西方更有名气。中国已经这个德国品牌第一大市场。

The point of the night, beyond serious marketing and a big party, was introducing the China market to Metamorphosis. In the course of the night, the invention of this new watch was mentioned along side that of the automobile and the internet.
